Chinese Social Media Manager (Internship)

bitbird is a creative record company spearheaded by San Holo, based in The Hague, The Netherlands.

We're looking for a Chinese Social Media Manager to assist our Heroic and bitbird teams. You'll be responsible for operating and optimizing our presence on Chinese social media with the aim of growing the popularity and fanbase of our management clients and bitbird. Platforms will include Weibo, WeChat, Yukou, QQ Music, Kugou, Kuwo, NetEase Cloud Music, Pyro Music. You'll work closely with our Heroic social media manager and bitbird's marketing manager.


  • Social media strategy: Working with the Heroic social media manager and bitbird marketing manager to devise the optimal strategy for growing the popularity and fanbases of our management clients and bitbird. This requires continuous research into new platforms, features and testing hypotheses for optimization.
  • Social media operation: Running the day-to-day social media accounts and streaming platforms, including Weibo, WeChat, Yukou, QQ Music, Kugou, Kuwo, NetEase Cloud Music, Pyro Music
  • Community management: Finding and partnering with unofficial fan-groups created for our management clients and bitbird. Creating relationships with the moderators and creating workflows and engagement strategies with them. Where no communities are found, they can be created by instituting the right super-fans and moderation policies.
  • Influencer management: Finding, partnering and engaging with Chinese social media influencers (or "KOLs") to maximize our exposure on the market. They can be involved in marketing campaigns, invited to shows, sent new music upon release and given responsibilities within our communities or on the social media accounts.
  • Release marketing: Working with the Heroic and bitbird marketing teams to see how we can improve our release marketing in the Chinese market, including blogs, sending releases to social influencers and so forth.
  • Tour marketing: Working with the Heroic day-to-day management team to promote shows in the Chinese market by collaborating with the local promoters, hosting give-aways and meet & greets, engaging social influencers and creating marketing campaigns.



  • Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin, where Cantonese is a plus)
  • Fluent in English: Fluent in Dutch is a plus
  • Experience with Chinese social media & streaming platforms: Weibo, WeChat, Yukou, QQ Music, Kugou, Kuwo, NetEase Cloud Music, Pyro Music.
  • Experience with Western social media & streaming platforms: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, SoundCloud.
  • Access to Chinese websites and platforms: Either living in China or in possession of a Chinese phone number and the ability to use a VPN to get access to the before-mentioned platforms.
  • Experience in the music industry, in whatever fashion. Understanding of copyright, music publishing and digital marketing. Music industry experience in writing or blogging are all bonuses.

  • Ability to work 20+ hours/week: Ability to come into our offices in The Hague is a plus.
